Description

When Princess Fleta, who has been mistreated her entire life due to being born with a curse, summons the basilisk and destroys the palace, Princess Cezanne regrets that things could have turned out differently if someone had been by Fleta's side. I just finished this and I liked it a lot but the only gripes I have are with the ending. It’s not bad, just feels rushed. At the end, we don’t even talk about how the emperor and sister ended up… it’s not even glazed over.

Also the romance ends on a sweet but bland note…

It's a very average story with a very 'done before' premise and very used up ideas about Power of Light and Power of Darkness and 'loving the neglected child in the new timeline' and such.
It does the fluffy sisterly love, 'little sister is uber cute' thing quite competently. So that's a plus that made me consider bumping it up a mark.

I will say that one thing it does pretty decently that you DON'T see in other stories in these subgenres is the idea of the Golden Child and the Scapegoat. And in this story we see the Golden Child gradually become aware that she is the one receiving preferential treatment and just because her father loved her and never did her wrong doesn't mean he was a good father or good person.
But it's a slow realisation and I'm worried that the Scapegoat (who's NOT just the neglected Princess Fleta) will end up as a tragic antagonist as a result.
It's realistic... a lot of the time the Golden Child doesn't realise that he/she was part of this dynamic until it's too late, or never realises.

So yea, that's enough that I considered giving it a 6.
But the other stuff is just SO cliche...the male lead's introductions, the light and darkness...
I think I'll stick with 5.
And yet...I'm a little curious how it'll end?

edit: I read another few of the fan TL (some grammar issues) and at least the mc is making a smarter choice after being called out on her shit, now. So I'll bump the rating 5->5.5

Mainly warm scenes of main character bonding/helping/standing up for younger her (half) sister who had been neglected in the past. Younger sister is the classic child, in awe of her sister ‘saviour‘, excitable and sincere.

Evil, jealous sister trope

I've read up to the current chap (58) and... meh? The only way I can think of it is like it's like a cookie that is home baked, warm but has almost no flavor. You'll eat it, somewhat enjoy it, but at the same time question why you took a second cookie.

So I like that there is plot with romance. As in, the FL is true to her desire to want to help her sister and Maybe the reason that I'm writing this is because I'm just tired in general of this trope.

I like that there's character growth in terms of her being greedy and identifying it relatively quickly. The female lead is so open minded but only about the things that she's wanting to be open minded about.

When it gets to the point that they are talking about a contract marriage She completely shuts down the ML and his question that he asked ! As in actually asking, what if someone falls in love.

I'm tired of FL's who aren't willing to see the possibilities in the future and for me that just ruined the whole plot line for me because I can see where it's going and that's misunderstanding city. That is boring now.
